Garton Jones Westminster was established on the 18th April 2006. Initially, managing director, Kieran Chalker was working on his own from a serviced office in the area but success after success allowed the business to grow rapidly and on the 1st September 2008 (the height of the downturn in the market), we opened the doors to our flagship offices at 49 Marsham Street.
As a business we initially focused on the modern apartment blocks in the area but in more recent years our expertise has rolled out to all residential property from the popular ex-local authority flats in the likes of the Millbank Estate to the spacious mansion flats located behind Westminster Cathedral, the town houses of Smith Square and of course, to the off plan developments which have been popping up throughout the area.
Westminster has changed dramatically in recent years and has gone from a rather un trendy area where you worked to a true destination and sought after area of Central London to live. Many of the new residential developments have replaced tired 60’s built government office blocks and they now offer luxury living with 24 hour concierge, health spas and swimming pools. The area is still popular with businesses but due to the cheaper commercial rents on offer than are available in other SW1 locations, we now have the likes of Burberry, Giorgio Armani, Tom Ford and Jimmy Choo inhabiting local office space and bringing a much trendier crowd to the queues in the coffee shops and snack bars at lunchtime. Westminster has changed for the better and is also set to become the restaurant capital of London once the regeneration around Victoria Station is complete
Situated on the North bank of the River Thames, Westminster has the most concentrated selection of historic landmarks in the city, such as Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and the Tate Gallery, to name but a few.
